Another passenger has my email in their contact info for an upcoming flight and I am receiving email updates about their trip, delays, upgrades, etc. I cannot imagine why this would be done on purpose. I am assuming it's some glitch in Lufthansa's IT system.

Their trip is almost over so it seems silly to even call Lufthansa about the issue. Is there anything malicious they could do with having my email on their reservation?

FWIW it looks like the passenger is flying first class and their name is completely different than mine.
