I'm sure this is highly dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to status, IRROPs going on somewhere, time of day, date of week, time of year, etc. Anecdotally, I have to fly AA next week to Grenada and had a simple question so I called. Estimated wait time was over 7 hours. No IRROPS going on and it was a Tuesday late morning. I then did the chat, as AA suggested, and the wait time for chat was quoted at 1 hour but they finally connected me at 1 hr 45 minutes to someone who clearly spoke/wrote very poor English.

As a DM I usually get instantly connected at Delta, so this again goes back to people who ask about the value of status, (of any sort) and I continue to maintain that reaching a human being on the phone in a short period of time when needed continues to be a big perk.
