Interesting timing on this thread. Found some award availability to Asia for next spring and the price was right. But neither the outbound or return are ideal flight schedules. I opted to book both as one ways in case I could change to better flights later later. Same pricing as booking round trip.
If you think you want to tweak and massage the flights, then one-ways are the way to go. It’s nice when they work out to the same price as the round trip, but that’s not always the case, there have been significant (even 40-60%) one-way penalties at times.
