(I have to confess I haven't tried enough California wines to call myself an expert, but the ones I've tried have been very disappointing so I wandered to other regions of the world instead)
I've tried more than my share of California wine, am a lifelong California resident, live close to the heart of the "most famous" wine region in the USA, and probably half of what I drink isn't from here, and very little of my CA wine drinking is from names widely known. There is a lot of excellent wine produced in these parts, and even more middling to meh to swill. Now back on point to "other regions of the world," I was pleasantly surprised on my last BA F flight (5-ish years ago) when sampling the English fizzies. No wonder the French are buying up land in Kent. I may even sample the English fizzies again on an upcoming trip just to, well, for comparison's sake

How many times does 8 go into 16? - probably mere coincidence.
