Spending the extra money is not worth it then for me. I will continue to split my business between DL and UA, in keeping with being a 'free agent'. I thought I'd aim for status in StarAlliance/ UA for the next two or so years because they are good in covering my travel pattern for that time period.

I used to live in a small town non-DL hub. I have since moved closer to SEA but my friend continues to live there. Her travel pattern is usually non-DL hub to non-DL-hub. And she picks the awful flight times.
