My cousin booked the Super Hotel Premium near Highashi Ginza for the sento. It's funny since I typically stay at a place quite nearby and he wasn't aware of that, nor of the Dormy chain which has a new-ish Premium Inn in that neighborhood as well. We both noted the price differences between Dormy and Super and depending on his review, I might book some Supers in the future if the bed isn't as uncomfortable as I think it might be. That intersection near Highashi Ginza is turning into a bit of a hotel row and I hope the crowds don't change it even further such that local shops turn into just corporate ones and high end dining squeeze out all the cheap and cheerful chains (sometimes I just want adequately budget and impersonal). It was a bit out of the bustle in years past but slightly charming where not every store is foreign tourist oriented. At least more charming than Tsukiji hotels trying to pass themselves off as Ginza in the hotel name. I like fish but it's industrial while Shiodome is corporate and Shinbashi is salaryman.
Since the Dormy Inn is across the street from us -- and they are Onsen people -- the Dormy Inn has worked well. We've noticed a lot of new hotel developments around the Shintomi area as well -- I mean how many APA hotels can they build?
