I can't get myself very far in trying to guess at what might or might not be happening at the bargaining table. There are lots of jobs where 5-6% per annum would be a reasonable scale, and other jobs where it wouldn't, but when a pilot in a different-coloured 7M8 is getting paid substantially more to fly that same aircraft from Toronto to Dallas, that's going to be a relevant point of discussion.
If that’s the case wouldn’t the appropriate response be for AC management to also bring up the rates that AI pays their pilots for YYZ-DEL or AM for YYZ-MEX? I struggle to understand the case for pilots to be the highest paid in the world vs something that reflects the local Canadian labour market.
