Apologies if this question has already been asked, but I didn't see it.

If I fly on a United flight, but under a partner frequent flyer number, do I get United million miler lifetime credit for the flight? Just to be completely clear, say I fly EWR to LAX on a United flight, buy the ticket at United.com, the plane has a big "UNITED" on the side, but I put in an Air Canada frequent flyer number, will I get credit for the flight towards reaching 1,000,000 lifetime United miles? I would think not, but perhaps that's not correct.
