From AC's perspective (and I suspect most Canadians), a more relevant point of discussion would be the Canadian pilot in the blue plane flying the 7M8 compared to the Canadian pilot in the red 7M8 on the same route rather than the foreign pilot working for a foreign airline. Under your example, should pilots get route-specific pay based on whatever route they fly compared with the foreign carrier, or should AC just match the highest pay of any pilot in the world it flies and be done with it?

Ford's Canadian workers would probably love to earn what their brethren in the US earn but their wages are negotiated to align with GM Canada and Chrysler Canada.
