Yes if you want to get front row seats, then yes it will be easier with seat assignments. Assuming you claim these seats when the fares first go on sale because I am sure there will be competition for those seats.

You are also assuming the incentive to cheat is to get a specific seat. The incentive may be to get on the plane quickly, which wouldn't change somebody's preboard strategy.
