You've never had an issue using senior rates, but that's not a guarantee that you'll never have problems in the future, at least until you personally turn 62.
The same can be said about booking a AAA rate. Front desk agents seldom ask to see a AAA card, but, if they do and someone is not a AAA member, that guest could end up having to pay a much higher rate, based on the hotel rates in effect on the day of check-in.
It's best to know the rules and to play by the rules -- or at least to know the risks of not doing so.
