If one was to speculate, I guess the boxes take up less galley space for the inbounds.
Also cheaper and more 'environmentally friendly / sustainable' than bags I guess. Since most passengers are just transiting at DOH to another destination, most will also get an amenity bag on their ex-DOH flight even if they're flying one way.
