Regarding the greetings to passengers with status: Some years ago JAL made a policy decision (which they announced to customers in a press release and/or email) that they would end the practice of personally greeting status passengers on their flights. I don't remember if this applied to all status pax or just JGC pax. But it's now their official policy. I used to receive personal greetings as a JGC person but that was over 10 or 15 years ago.

More generally, I'm surprised at the negative comments on crews here. In 21 years and over 500K miles on JAL, I've never encountered an FA whom I would characterize as rude or snide.
