sorry but that’s a BS excuse. You can recognize and cover for all eventualities in any given contract. The fact it’s not is either cheapness, laziness, or ignorance on the part of UA. Imagine some combination thereof.

FWIW I come at this as someone who spends between 10K and 14K routinely on east coast to LHR roundtrips. Not someone complaining after upgrading a K class ticket.
