So who is EB status for? Seems like the conclusion is that both earnings and redemptions on partners will be extremely weak, and earning status by segments is easier through Flying Blue.
So EB status probably only makes sense if you have a lot of SAS credit card spend and value the free wifi?

With *A, SAS didn't have to offer free fast track or free seat selection to non-EB *A Golds. How is this with SkyTeam? I guess the rules are stricter there, so the only true benefit with EB will be free wifi (which isn't regulated by SkyTeam)?

I'm honestly a bit disappointed. For years, SK has been the *A carrier I've flown the most by far, but I never went for status with them, even though I would have easily qualified. A3 just felt like a better fit for me, even if it meant problems like no free seat selection, no fast track etc.
Now that I was matched, I actually liked the seamless experience, always having fast track, free wifi etc. - I thought "Hey, actually this isn't so bad, maybe I should really try to renew this".
But it just seems like they're already doing what they can to make their own program unattractive...
