I usually end up throwing in the towel and buying intra-Asia separately (with cash) when I encounter that snag. "Saving" 10k miles (or 30k in the case of F on the transpac!) removes a little bit of the sting.
I might consider the same thing, except in this case the TPAC segment is married and not available at all by itself and without the TPAC there is no point.
