Day 4 - Durrės Beach and Durrės old town and Uma restaurant

Lovely couple of days at Durrės, their promenade had a spongy running track which was great for getting a few miles in.

And then just lovely walking along the seaside.

We went out swimming in the morning before the weather got to hot. On the second day, we headed into Durrės old town.

Self-guided walk around Durrės old town. Sites included Roman spa, Byzantine market square, town square, the Grand Mosque, Roman amphitheatre, remains of Durrės Castle, the Faith Mosque, the Venetian tower, the sea-front promenade, Durrės pier, the "Sfinski" end of promenade seating area and the Villa of King Zog. Lots of old statues, modern art and a statue of Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Keith Richards and Tina Turner.

Roman Coliseum

In the Coliseum.

The main Durrės square.

And then down to the promenade along the beach. They like rock music – Tina Turner, John Lennon, Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger.

Me and mick doing a big of posing.

They have a lot of modern art along the sea-front.

The Sfinksi (sphinx) to watch the sunset.

And then walk up to Villa of King Zog.

Uma restaurant

We walked down after going up to the Villa of King Zog, and headed to the Uma restaurant.

Both indoor and outdoor seating, but we went indoor.

Octopus carpaccio

Seafood linguine

Overall cost for dinner at Uma was 3600 LEK. Great value.

Taxi to Durres old town was 10 euros (1000 LEK) and back to the Durres beach after dinner was 15 euros (1500 Lek).
