There will be many people who can't get 0.92p of value for their Avios, in which case it would be foolish in the extreme to use boost to get more.
However many people in your situation do still get good value from them by buying economy flights that would be ludicrously priced if bought for cash for example short notice European rewards. The Avios cost of flights doesn't vary much, but cash prices can be over 100% more than usual for some dates.
in my experience booking 2-6 weeks in advance for Europe, if there’s an Avios flight available on that day, there’s also a cheap cash fare on that day, so I just end up using full cash and sometimes the £10 off for 1000 Avios. It’s been rare for me to find a flight where using Avois has been better value, the more expensive cash flights don’t have any Avois seats available
but maybe I’m just not doing it right
