It's showing available on Alaska and Qantas, so I believe this to be real inventory (AS alone would be iffy, but Qantas I have higher faith in). Can you put in on hold first, then call in to ticket?.
The only guess I'm coming up with as to why it might fail on AA is that maybe it violates AA's routing rules? I have to search the rules to check.
