Usually they give you the option to select your own fare for both legs. You might only require the 2nd cabin baggage item for one direction (dropping off something extra at your destination; picking up an extra bag at your destination to bring home), etc. In other words - there may be reasons for "mismatching" fare types, but doing so to make a ticket including a sector booked as Economy Light flexible isn't one of them.
