Accor hotels in the USA and Canada are not cheap. Compare what you would to pay to earn status 10 nights silver 30 nights gold etc, not talking points here, it would cost a lot. Compare that to spending the same in Europe, or SA, Mexico or SEA and it would cost a lot less. You could get status by staying in Ibis, Ibis Styles, and in some cases such as Poland Ibis Budget. The US and Canada do not have the same playing field as do others going to the countries above. IMO Accor is not good value for North Americans, I have had Accor Status and still have points, but I am not going to play their game any longer.
Well you do forget that most people earn status by spending money and qualify by earning status points.
If you are really spending a lot at Accor hotels you will be easily qualifying by points instead.
Also the fact they will not offer you diamond membership no matter if you stayed every night of the year at their hotel.
I live in Asia and it would be exceedingly rare for me qualify by nights for even the gold membership.But points is different.
