Yeah, Thompson has always given me a Sound view upgrade, which is nice. Though they remain extremely stingy with suite upgrades: We were last there in January (we live in Kitsap county, so we do weekend stays in Seattle a few times a year) and the hotel was dead, as you might expect for January. I think we paid $150/night which is insane for Thompson Seattle. Rainy weekend to boot. I think we saw maybe 4 other people at the hotel, including at breakfast. Room availability was wide open.

I asked about a suite upgrade on arrival with the FD agent who was being very nice, we were all joking around, etc. and when I asked about the suites he looked at me deadpan and said there was a convention in town and the hotel was full, all suites booked. If he'd just said they couldn't do it, okay, but I don't enjoy being lied to. This was also a The Hotel Collection booking in addition to Globalist, and we're repeat visitors, so if there were any situation they could have given us a suite upgrade, it'd be this.

They're also stingy with Globalist breakfast, where I got charged for ordering a second Americano. I know they say only one coffee is covered, but it's just so silly when HR has unlimited breakfast at Andare.
