dp:: Unlocked in 3 business days
Just wanted to post my dp: my Aeroplan account was locked on Saturday after I got distracted during a 2FA login attempt. The one-time passcode was emailed to me, and I walked away without entering the code. When I came back and attempted to log in again, my account had been locked:“Your Aeroplan account has been
deactivated. Please contact us at 1-800-
361-5373 for assistance.”
Proceeded to call that number and waited on hold an hour. The rep was very friendly. She verified my mailing address, then gave me an email address to submit a form of ID and piece of mail (e.g., utility bill) that display my full name and said address.
I nervously asked her how long she thinks it might take to unlock my account, as I’ve read online that it can take over 6 months. She actually sounded a bit pensive and said “yeah… I’m not sure these days.. it shouldn’t take more than 6 months though”
😅 I laughed and said “well I hope not!” At that point she said something about checking something, and put me on hold. She came back after less than a minute and said that team is taking about 3 business days at the moment.
I made a log in attempt each day, and much like previous poster’s experience, on the 3rd business day (5th calendar day) my account was unlocked. No response to my email. Annoying experience but sounds like I should be grateful. Maybe mine didn’t take as long because whatever triggered the system seemed less suspicious ?
I’d transferred almost 200,000 points from Chase about a month prior (appeared instantly) and had been logging in almost daily to search for seats. Anyway hope that is helpful to some.
