Kimpton San Diego
What is your Rewards Club status? Diamond Ambassador
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? We stayed as a comparison to IC. It was OK but we concluded that IC is much better, around $70 a night more but vastly superior benefits, esp. with free two year lounge pass.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? We booked the cheapest entry level and received a two level upgrade to a 2 double premium.
How are the rooms? Comfortable beds, plenty of seating. There was a window seat that could easily fit four and a padded bench opposite the TV. Small table and chair suitable for eating or use as a desk. There was also an adorable pouffe. Empty minibar. No inroom tea or coffee. Shower only, Atelier Bloem toiletries.
How cute is this pouffe?
[If you are Spire and Inner Cricle]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity? We chose a breakfast voucher. Good for juice, coffee plus a breakfast item from the menu. I chose a burrito priced at $25, my son chose pancakes. Both were huge and we could not eat it all. The voucher included tax and gratuities.
Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? Unstocked minibar.
Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? We ate out.
Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? No spa.
What was good and what was bad? Good - received $40 bar/minibar credit for the secret password but see below. Late checkout of three extra hours was given. Social hour was generous with lovely French vino (£8.50 in Waitrose) plus chicken empanadas. At the end of the hour staff members walked round topping up those of us who wanted more. Really cute pink hooded robes.
Bad - pool was closed for maintenance on the second day. When we tried to use our secret password $40 credit, there was no minibar and all three bars where we could have used our credit were closed. We were awarded 5000 points in lieu of the credit.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? We paid over $350 for our single night. Seemed a lot for what we got. We won’t be back.
