If WoH's loyalty division is worth its salt, they don't see it that way. The less breakage, the better. They want to get people on the hamster wheel. Engaged WoH members are more profitable as they spend more per room and night than others.

Sure. But it's a number that's bigger than I expected. E.g., Marriott has 9000 properties and roughly 1.6m rooms vs Hyatt's 1300 properties and 280k rooms. Based on the ratio of coverage, my estimate of WoH membership would have been lower, perhaps around 30m.
