Philadelphia Good Denver Bad Providence RI Very Bad

All my trips start in PHL and for all the bad press about that airport (and I can add some of my own) I have never had a issue with the shoe carnival. Granted I only go through Terminals A (East and West), B, C, D, and F therefore I can not comment on Terminal E. I have never once had a problem btw more then 100 times a year.

One of my most common destinations is Denver and never once since this mess started have I not had to go through secondary. It has gotten to the point that the screeners know me and we have a conversation. The reason I do not list them as very bad is that most of the screeners are pleasent with me. Even after I hand them a copy of the TSA memo explaining the shoe policy to the screeners (more on that later). Please note I have never set off the detectors at any time since my airport shoes have ZERO metal in them.

Another common destination for me is Providence RI. I list this airport as Very Bad since 100 % of the time I will go through secondary even though I do not set off the detectors. Of course this is due to the fact that I did not take my shoes off. But, the primary reason is that the people are not very nice (possibly rude or even nasty) with the individual they are performing the secondary on. Interestingly enough it is at this airport if you question them about the policy they will give you a copy of the TSA directive that covers which shoes need to be removed and which ones do not. It is this letter that I keep a copy of in my briefcase and I give it back to them. This memo covers which shoes need to come off and which ones do not need too, and my shoes are of the type as described in the memo that do not need to come off. I usually ask them why they are so blantant about ignoring their own directives. Granted this usually keeps me there a minute or two longer (but some are getting to know me). And from time to time I point out that anyone wanting to commit an act will first find how to blend in not stand out like I am doing, but this is usually ignored (best case), or goes right over their heads (worst case). But thorugh it all I am polite and respond to all of their requests while talking to them the whole time.
