What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
- Absolutely adorable staff
- As I made my way to my room, Nathan, a member of staff, gave me a fascinating tour of the property, revealing all its little secrets.

Quote:
Fernand Halphen, a French composer and conductor, purchased a property in La Chapelle-en-Serval, near Chantilly (Oise), to provide his wife with an enchanting view. In 1908, he decided to build a country house in the wooded valley, which would become known as Château Mont-Royal. After initially rejecting plans by architect René Sergent and a medieval-style proposal by Guillaume Tronchet, Halphen settled on Tronchet's second design. This plan envisioned a château that celebrated hunting on the exterior and music on the interior.

Constructed between 1907 and 1911, the château featured bas-reliefs by Georges Gardet that celebrated the pleasures of the hunt. Inside, it included notable features such as a theater modeled after the Opéra-Comique.

- Beautiful renovation of the property, while retaining its historic charm
- Solid restaurant with terrace
- Very good breakfast: limited choice but high quality products (particularly the choice of cheeses)
- Very pleasant Biologique Recherche spa with indoor swimming pool
- Bicycles (including electric ones) are available free of charge for visiting the surrounding area (Chantilly Castle is a 30-minute bike ride from the hotel).
- The hotel is set in a remarkable, gigantic park with a tennis court and petanque area.

BAD
- Nothing

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Club? Would you return?
The hotel really is the perfect place to recharge your batteries in the middle of the forest, just an hour from Paris.

From Paris, you can take the RER train or regional train to Orry-la-Ville-Coye station (€6 ticket), then take an Uber/Bolt for less than €12 (note that drivers often miss the hotel entrance).

The hotel is still in soft opening (the fitness centre is not ready, which is hardly a problem when you can cycle in the countryside).

The renovated property is planning to enter the very exclusive circle of palaces - there are only 31 in France, including twelve in Paris.
