Woke up this morning to find about 10K Edge Rewards points missing from my account. Upon checking the recent activities section I saw that about 20 odd items were listed deducting points for various refunds that had come in earlier this week. All of these were tax refunds from Global Blue for claiming back the VAT for various shopping items that I bought when I was in Europe in the month of June.
Now here is the thing that baffles me. I did not use my Magnus card at all in the month of June. All the shopping was done either in cash or via my forex card. When submitting the form at the airport they asked for a credit card number so that all transactions could be refunded at one place. I gave that & the refunds finally hit my card about 2 months later.
So even though I did not use my Magnus card to earn the points, they have deducted points for all the refunds that posted to my card.
I called Axis to complain about this & the first agent kept on insisting that these were all merchant credits from Global Blue so I must have used my card to purchase something at Global Blue & then returned it so the merchant refunded the amounts. I asked her to check if there were any transactions on Global Blue or any at all in the month of June. I also asked her to check each posting which clearly said this was a VAT refund. But she refused to budge from her stance. So I hung up & called again. This time I got a better agent who immediately understood what I was talking about. He agreed that there were no transactions during that period so the card could obviously not have been used to earn those points that have now been deducted. He raised a query & said someone would get back to me in 5 working days.
Honestly, I expect this to be a fight with Axis asking for lots of unnecessary information to prove that I did not earn these points in the first place through the card. Lets see what happens.
