They will have the perfect temperature in August your looking for near hiking and running trails. My wife is a runner and loves running all those places. I'd stay at one of those hotels, the Hyatt Centric Park City will give you a condo type setup if you book a 1 bedroom suite or better. You can scan the Homes and Hideaways site to find a condo based setup too. Homes and Hideaways opens up more mountain towns in Colorado to stay at if you are willing to pay the preimum and book through that site.

There are also some options in the Lake Tahoe area but I'm not as familiar with those properties in the summer. We are trying out the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe this August.
I stay at the Hyatt Centric in Park City 4 or 5 times a year and from May to October the hiking is awesome. Right out the door...no driving needed. I love this property.
