if i buy the ticket less than 24hrs of departure, and if it doesn't clear, i can still refund, yes?

Good strategy indeed! Sorry i'm super rusty on these things now. So i can theortically by ticket tonight, and if it doesn't clear tomorrow (t -24r), i'll refund and just get an award ticket?
