Despite the similar name, they operate entirely independently. They are airline partners with each other, but share little else. They don't even share an airline alliance (VA is not in any alliance).

You can continue to use FlyerTalk until you have enough posts and time to visit Coupon Connection forum, where you may be able to trade another airlines points for Velocity points.
