I wonder why they don't just do what the LHR flight did? Seems the least bad option here. If I'd have had to put money on it I would have bet on the LCY flight leaving and the LHR fllight staying put and/or offloading- goes to show how much I know!
. I think there is another LCY flight later today, but no LHR flight, so offloading might be easier.
