2 tickets, you bags might be checked through. The systems are capable of doing it.

Will the check in agent at BOS do it? Nobody will be able to guarantee that.

90 minute between flights on separate tickets, for a trip of a lifetime? That would be well below my risk tollerance. You have 0 protection if things do wrong and could end up with significant costs.

IF you prefer to book separate tickets, build a much bigger gap into your plan, bags or no bags!!
