Did online chat with BA. The first agent said can rebook to another OW airline. So I requested for either CX or JL, because I needed to be back in SIN before late morning on 23 Sep. Then the chat dropped, and the second agent said they can only rebook to another OW airline if the flight was departing within 24 hours. Otherwise, BA can only rebook to MH (timing of the alternative flight already proposed, of course, wasn't convenient, and that's the earliest possible flight). Failing which a refund, which is a convenient cop out for the airline and the passenger is left scrambling on their own for another flight at now inflated prices so close to departure.
Going to call MH directly later, because I know of another relative who was offered another OW airline when the cancelled flight was within the same week. Seems what's offered as alternative restitution isn't consistent.
When I call they said that my flight, on 21 Sep, was more than 14 days away. By policy they can't put me on another OW flight, despite all the inflated prices closer to departure. The only thing I could do is cancel. This was after calling for an hour. Ridiculous
