I doubt they check it to the destination from the terminal and I also doubt that Lufthansa will let me bring a second carry-on trolley onto the flight (especially in economy)?
Be creative, people do this all the time (or the shop would not sell anything).
You could buy a new one that is large enough to fit the old one (or one that is small enough to fit in the old one), or you check in the other one and take a tote bag on your first flight that you then stuff into your new carry-on. Or you bring for the last time and then throw away the 10 year old Samso that was already damaged.
