The 20 minute delay stayed with us, and we ended up on the second bus, and we ended up missing the LIN flight by about 5 minutes. If we had been in the first bus we may well have made it.
If the seats remained empty through the flight, it's probably better to ask just before landing, I doubt you will get a no at that stage, it happens all the time with PAX having short connections.
(When boarding/during the flight they can hope to 'upgrade' pax to EC seats for $$$)
