Flying SFO-DEN-YVR on same ticket. First flight is UA metal, second is AC metal. Am I entitled to MLL access at SFO via a one-time MLL pass?

My reading of the rules (“customers with a same-day ticket on a departing Air Canada flight”) would indicate yes, since it’s same-day even if the AC flight is from DEN not SFO, but would appreciate hearing from anyone who’s done similar ex-SFO just to be sure.
