The location problem IS overblown. You can walk safely to FLORIDA street and all the main areas. It is near the Train Station. In all Cities the areas next to the train station are typically rough. This is no exception. But if you don't walk to the train station area you are fine. Uber's are less than 5 dollars to almost anywhere you want to go. My teenage children walked solo without any issues in the area.
