My thoughts exactly! This does not need to become complicated. In practical terms, other than the question about the child which I can’t answer not having kids, I do know for sure each passenger can do bag drop separately.
Keep your own passport with you though.
My only slight concern would be if there is disruption on the day, I know status pax can normally drop bags all day but it may be if there is disruption they decide to enforce the 3 hour before policy.
As others have said, there are other solutions including perhaps a day room at the Sofitel or a day pass to a we work or similar coworking space. If needed worth remembering there are left luggage facilities in T5, from memory they are on Arrivals level somewhere near M&S but this was pre Covid when I last used them so check Heathrow website or App.
