Valid or not I personally wouldn't book such a short connection when I know there's a very high chance for bus gates as well as the need to go through immigration, and if I do end up on one then at the very least I will choose a seat closer to the entrance which in this case would have made the difference it seems.
That is not the point. KLM sold a connection of 50 minutes. It is clear that with the slightest delay there will be trouble, and then KLM should be on the hook. Only not if OP was loitering here and there but that seems not the case. 10 min for PP control is not long, that it takes 15 min from door open to arrival with a 2nd bus is not weird, that is 25 min total with a 9 min late arrival of the 41 min left....not counting walking time
