Security just awful, the machines are very old and need about 6 bins if you have any sort of electronics (cf. the new SYD Dom checkin in T3). Escalators not working, so having to walk up stairs with cabin bags. No booze in the lounge until 12pm. Flying direct into BNE is so much better for these reasons.

I'd rather backtrack through the continent from west coast US and fly via DFW than LAX-SYD.

Eventually we're going to have to follow the US model and combine DOM/INT with swing gates.
SFO-LAX-MEL-BNE is an easer transit.
With the physical layout of security and immigration-customs at BNE& SYD for domestic - international buildings can't see that happening in the short - medium term. Been reports for years that at SYD QF would like all operations in one terminal. That would be a large capital expense. Took a long time at PER for single I D terminal QF operations of sort.
Never understood why BNE international is a separate standalone building a few km away from domestic. Govt bureaucrats with 1970-80 thinking, Used to fly into the old BNE airport the 1980's.
