I expect that you will find good and bad staffers with any airline -- or with any type of company, for that matter. Whether AA staffers, on average, are more surly that DL staffers, I cannot say.
You might want to take a look at AA Economy Class redemption rates on routes you might redeem for, if you have not done so recently.
