I don't do it for "fractionally cheaper", I do do it when the difference is in the hundreds and sometimes even >£1000 which does happen occasionally after first asking BA if they can replicate the price (often, annoyingly, they can't). As noted above, it's a pain in the back if something goes wrong in the booking
