Checked luggage on overnight connection
If taking the DL266 daytime JFK-CDG arriving at 9:35 pm, and connecting to AF 963 leaving the next morning at 9:30 am for TLV, I understand from other threads here that at least in theory, it should be possible to check bags through despite the overnight connection because it's a partner flight within 24 hours.
I was wondering if in practice, all DL agents will know how to do this and agree to do so? I couldn't find anything on Delta.com or the conditions of carriage that expressly says what the rule is - in the event an agent mistakenly says no dice, is there something one can refer them to?
Also, does the fact that the connecting flight is to TLV change the calculus in any way, given that AF won't allow night-before check-in for luggage to Tel Aviv for passengers originating in CDG?
