Stop 5. Qantas London International Lounge - Part 1

The Qantas lounge is Lounge B at Terminal 3. Uniquely amongst all of the Oneworld Alliance partners in Terminal 3, this lounge serves as a combined Business and First class lounge. This is also the latest to open of all the Heathrow T3 lounges, doors open at 8am and close at 10pm.

The lounge is spread across two floors and, if you are toting luggage, has Heathrow’s slowest lift between the two floors. This is also the only one of the airline lounges in Terminal 3 where it is possible to purchase entry, via the Qantas Lounge Pass scheme.

The ground floor offers an extensive gin bar and at-seat dining. The dining room normally opens a few hours before the Qantas departures. Earlier today I had checked and so I knew QF10 departs for Perth at 11:55 and so the dining room would be open.

There is one dish that the Qantas dining is famous for, the Salt and Pepper squid. For breakfast? Clearly Qantas think so, it’s on the breakfast menu

I’d say that more than half the people here think it’s a breakfast dish too, it is far and away the most ordered.

In the centre of the dining space, at the far side of the bar, there is a small self serve buffet spread of pastries, fruit, and yoghurt.

Squid and coffee consumed, it is time to decamp and head for the second part of the lounge upstairs.
