Vancouver has a lot of kiosks these days, for passport processing, and though there can be a queue for these machines (and often no queue), it's usually pretty fast moving. I wouldn't have thought it a reason to dash off an aircraft - yes you may be ahead of the one aircraft that you have just exited, but you may well then join up with passengers from 6 other aircraft that arrived before you, many of whom may not be that quick on screen usage.
