So this may be a little off-topic, but I have been driving myself crazy checking seats for my upcoming flights on daily basis. I have had 4 random seat changes on upcoming flights, one of which appears to be non-recoverable without begging someone to switch with me or my wife when we board the flight. Here is the off-topic part: I fly international business class to Europe about four times a year, using my own funds. I used to fly Delta, but their prices have increased dramatically. The Turkish flights seem to be pretty good once you get on the plane. When I recently said to myself that I didn't want to deal with TK's crazy seat nonsense in the future, I compared the cost of alternative airlines (e.g. Delta, Lufthansa) for the flights I have already booked, and concluded that I would have spent about $1K to $1.5K more per person for each flight, or a total of $8K to $12K over a 12 month period (for two people). I then have to ask myself is it worth the hassle to "save" that much money, and conclude that it probably is, for me.
I'm wondering if others on this thread are making the same assessment and flying on Turkish, while gritting their teeth, because its simply a better deal, price-wise. In other words, is the primary argument for putting up with TK the better value price-wise, or do a number of you actually prefer Turkish Airlines and feel that the pluses outweigh the minuses, independent of cost?
