55 minutes would probably be a bit too tight for my taste, but there are plenty of departures with BA and SK to Heathrow during the day if you miss your connection.
There is a sterile corridor 1 floor up that allows passengers to walk from the departure area in C to E (or vv) without having to go through immigration at all. I used it a couple years ago when going from a lounge (in C) to an SK departure in E. On arrival from the US, there was no transit security and we deplaned directly into the departure gate area.
