If you try to make a booking, you will see there are a few differences, including 4 options for economy bookings - Economy basic, Economy plus, Economy plus select and Economy fully flex. Once selected the next screen gave options to pay for middle seat, which seemed a bit odd (I wasn’t logged in). £22 at front, £29 emergency exit, £18 and then £14 at the back. There were no prices for window and aisle seats. Flights were from LGW, but there was also options from LHR to my destination changing in Madrid. Never had those options on this route before. There was also no information on fare bucket, just aircraft type.
This doesn’t bode well. I hate the trend towards more unbundling and less transparency on what you’re actually getting in terms of fare class and therefore tier points. Please don’t turn BA’s booking engine into Iberia or Aer Lingus!
