desktop and smartphone seats disagree after seat change

I'm an infrequent AA flyer, so need some advice. Today I checked in for flights tomorrow, and saved the boarding passes both on my (Android) smartphone, as well as printing paper copies from the desktop website. After checkin, a better seat became available on one of the flights, at no extra cost, so I switched. The website shows the new seat, and boarding passes printed from the website do as well. However, the pass on the phone app did not change to the new seat. Oddly, if I look at the seat map on the phone app, I can see the switch was made, even though the app doesn't show it.

I did clear the app cache, and force stopped the app, but still no joy.

I'm presuming I should not try to checkin with the (old, wrong) phone boarding pass, but use the paper one instead? Will the phone app ever catch up with the change after some interval?
